Midwest Medical will be sending resources to assist under AMR’s FEMA contract
(Omaha, NE) – Global Medical Response has deployed its ground ambulance division, American Medical Response, and network providers to support America’s COVID-19 response. AMR is responding to a FEMA request to provide ambulances and emergency medical services personnel to the greater New York area. Resources will remain in the area as long as they are needed. When the teams arrive at their assigned area, they will work under the guidance of FEMA, state and local agencies.
“At Midwest Medical, we are proud we’ve been entrusted to provide care to the citizens of this nation at a moment’s notice during this unprecedented time. I am incredibly proud of our providers who have stepped up for this mission and making sacrifices themselves by leaving family and other obligations behind to help our fellow Americans.” said Jeff Shullaw, President and CEO. “Our primary focus remains on providing adequate resources at home during this health crisis. We have carefully selected the personnel and resources to send and this deployment will in no way affect our day-to-day ability to provide timely medical response for all the communities we serve.” Providers responding on behalf of Midwest Medical are from Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Ohio.
As FEMA’s prime emergency medical service response provider, AMR has a national agreement with FEMA to provide ground ambulance, air ambulance, paratransit services and non-ambulance EMS personnel to supplement the federal and military response to a disaster, an act of terrorism or any other public health emergency.
